Roxie Sharp's Biography
Roxie Sharp has a heart for children and a passion to teach them God’s Word.
Roxie was brought up in a Christian home just outside of Chicago. Her perception of being a Christian in her youth was that “you went to Sunday school and church.” And Sunday school was in the basement of the church, almost an afterthought—not too exciting to say the least.
It was when she was 13 that she heard the message of the Jesus Christ in such a way that she understood it is not about going to church, but it is a relationship with Christ and accepting Him as Lord and Savior of our life that makes us a Christian. It was at a Jesus Concert in a park while on vacation in Wisconsin that she heard that message and accepted Christ—not even in a church! But it wasn’t until her 20s that she truly understood the hope we have in Christ, His agape love, and His message of grace. And that was through the teachings of Calvary Chapel.
The Lord began to put a burden on her heart when she married and began her family. It was a burden to give our kids a biblical foundation. After college, her career path was clearly set as an advertising art director, but God, being God, took her from being an art director to being a children’s ministry director in a way that only He could orchestrate and divinely direct. ”Lord here am I, send me!” (Isaiah 6:8). Don’t pray those six words unless you mean it. The Lord took Roxie’s burden and gave her a passion to teach God’s Word in creative and vibrant ways—not like the Sunday school of her youth.
Roxie has served as Director of Children’s Ministries at Ocean Hills Church and Capistrano Valley Church in San Juan Capistrano, California before following God’s calling to Calvary Albuquerque in 2010. She now serves as director of BibleIsland Children’s Ministries at Calvary Albuquerque and its two multi-site campuses.
Roxie is married to Steve and has two daughters.
