Spring 2010 Frequency Magazine

Posted: Wednesday, March 17, 2010

While the scientific community and Christianity often disagree, you may be surprised to hear that many scientists and Scripture are not at odds. The latest edition of Frequency Magazine challenges us to consider, "Evolution…really?" We'll take a look at the teleological argument for the existence of God in Skip Heitzig's article, "The Design and the Designer," and hear some surprising quotes in "A Few Things Darwin Wishes Weren't Published," by Chip Lusko. The publication of the KNKT (107.1) and M88 (88.3) also includes a look at "The Real-Time Web" and a profile of John MacArthur. You'll also appreciate the updated KNKT Program Guide, a look at the top 8 bands on M88, and more!

Be sure to pick up your free copy of the Spring 2010 Frequency Magazine this weekend in the East Foyer, or throughout the week in the Connection Communications building located adjoining the HUB. You may also download or view the magazine online.

Self-Defense Classes

Did you know that Calvary offers self-defense classes that are dedicated to the Lord Jesus Christ? Pastor Eric Lamb developed the system that is known as the way of Mental, Attitude, Knowledge, and Awareness or MAKA. MAKA Karate is a system that borrows from other martial art styles in physical skills, strategies, and movements. More importantly, it incorporates Scripture in its teaching and structure. We offer class in the Gym on Tuesdays at 6:30 PM for adults and on Fridays at 6 PM for children. There is no fee for this class. For more information, please contact David or Pam Ball at 873-3760.

Part of Velocity mission trip to South Dakota includes washing the feet of the children on the reservations they visit. According to Global Adventures Missionaries Chug and Karen Garreau, the foot washing ministry is an excellent opportunity to share the gospel as you wash their feet! You can help by donating new shoes and socks to distribute to the children following the foot washing. Donations are being accepted in the Student Ministries and Global Adventures offices.

Children were delightfully surprised as Bibleman visited the Children's Ministry for services on March 13 and 14. Bibleman hung out in the children's ministry hallway welcoming kids to class, and taking time to sign autographs, visit, and pray with kids who stopped by. Children first through fifth grade celebrated the DVD premiere of the latest Bibleman movie, Combating the Commandant of Confusion, which was recorded here at Calvary during FallFest on October 31, 2009. The festivities included a viewing of the DVD in the COVE, a question and answer time, and a presentation of the gospel from Bibleman himself, resulting in dozens of children committing to follow Jesus Christ.

Update from Haiti

Posted: Thursday, March 11, 2010

In Chaplain Les Palmer's most recent update from Haiti, he talks about the profound impact the ministry is having on individual lives. One visit to a local IDP camp resulted in over 200 people coming to the Lord. Though the physical conditions are difficult and the suffering has been intense, the people are receptive to the message of the Gospel, and the hope available through Jesus Christ. Please continue to keep the victims of January's earthquake, and the relief workers in prayer.

March Connection Resource Image

March Connection Resource

Posted: Monday, March 01, 2010

Today, much of the scientific world rejects the idea that the universe was designed by an intelligent Creator. The Connection has put together resources that will help you understand the battle for truth and establish a Biblical view concerning the origin of the universe. In the controversial film "Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed," writer/actor Ben Stein seeks to end suppression of thinking outside of the evolutionary box, and asks the question "Why is no intelligence allowed in today's classrooms?"

Also included in this month's offer is "In the Beginning," by Skip Heitzig. In this new Life Style booklet, Skip examines the Genesis account of creation, and contrasts it with the teaching of evolution which denies the existence of God.

Order this resource package for just $25 by calling 1-800-922-1888 or order this resource online.
