Pastor Skip Heitzig shared a teaching at the weekend services, March 28-29, about how Jesus dealt with two traitors, demonstrating Christ's boundless love. Kicking off the service, guest musician Stephen Christian and the Battle Drums team shared songs about the cross and Jesus' unending love for us. With a large wooden cross at the front of the sanctuary, Pastor Skip began his message called "Jesus Loves Traitors" from Matthew 26, examining the betrayals of Peter and Judas. He explained that the cross defined the difference between these two men: Judas despised the cross, while Peter embraced it and was restored. Skip wrapped up the teaching with this reminder: "Let the cross stand between your sin and your Savior." He then invited the congregation to write on a piece of paper the sins they wanted forgiveness for and the burdens they wanted to release. Leaders from the church collected the papers, putting them into envelopes and nailing them to the cross. It was a beautiful reminder that Christ paid the price for our sins once and for all and that we are no longer under the power of sin.
